A Magnificent Russian Shawl in Chocolate, Cocoa and Pink - The Almond

This is one of the most beautiful Russian shawls that I have seen, and I have seen many of them. It has a sophisticated design which reminds me of antique Persian rugs. It is colors - cocoa, milk and bitter chocolate, cream and muted pinks - make it look a bit like a delicious cake with chocolate and sugared fruit. It is warm, soft, cozy, very wearable, and still a statement piece.

This shawl was designed by a very famous Russian shawl artist Valeriya Fadeeva for Pavlovo Posad Manufacture, and for me this is one of the best Russian shawls produced in the last 30 years. This design is called Almond, and of course almond is traditionally associated with the Orient.

The shawl is very easy to wear, despite its large size, and it drapes beautifully. You can use it as a coat on a windy day, or as a lap blanket, when reading at home. And of course can accompany you to a night out - just make sure you do not leave it at the theater or a club. Keep an eye on it, however, because these beauties certainly attract a lot of attention.

I love all the small details: the intricate lace-like branches with tiny leaves and berries, and small red berries, and the subtle transitions of colors. You can contemplate this shawl for many minutes and you will keep finding new details and nuances.

This beauty is available here, in our Mulberry Whisper shop on Etsy. You can see more photos there to have an idea of what it will look like when worn. We only have one and are not likely to have another one like this in the nearest future; they are difficult and expensive to source.
